The visits by leaders of Nations have determined the political climate in the German capital in the last few weeks: the new President of Brazil, Juscelino Kubitschek, Marshal juin, Commander in Chief of NATO forces Europe Center, the Italian Prime Minister, Antonio Segni and the Italian Foreign Minister Martino were guests of the Federal Government.
Minister Martino flew from Bonn to Berlin, which was the scene of the traditional "Green Week" in these days. All European countries had come up with a promising spring behind the frozen window of the large exhibition halls. Agriculture Minister Lübke spoke at the opening of the exhibition.
An unusual cold spell which hit all over Europe, threatened the boat trip on the Rhine in February. -Cologne with its 600000 inhabitants, its Cathedral and its famous churches was wrapped in snow and ice. Downstream, one of his largest works, which could now celebrate the anniversary of its 25-year existence lies on the edge of the city. Although it is a German company, it bears the name of an American industrialist. Economically independent, but in the permanent exchange of experiences with the large Ford plant in America, 10000 people work today in the German Ford company. 350 vehicles a day leave the Cologne plant.
