The efforts of professors are beyond doubt. But how it looks in this case with the setting of the patients. Some of them have an unfounded suspicion and some push back even the helping hand, just because she is black.
We have heard hardly a complaint about the relationship to the German fellow students. In many years of joint work, you've learned respect and appreciate. But unfortunately seems to know that the fellow student of today of the partners of tomorrow is just at the University. African students can expect little understanding from wide circles of the population and prejudices and cool distance are what encountered them again and again.
Many complain that they are considered on the basis of the colour of their skin as circus attractions. Scornful remarks from passers-by and prejudice against coloured lodger make life harder than it should be and every official insurance of the equality of all human beings sounds so almost implausible.
A few, very few want to convince themselves that our African guests are as well educated as the German students. Their habits no longer differ from ours, as the habits of Bremer's of which a Wieners and they are only too willing to adapt to our ways of life. Today over 8000 coloured studying at German universities and we are forced to assume that it not only what they are studying, but also where they do matter.
Here dance Catholic students from Africa on the occasion of its Congress in Berlin. You come from a country whose Vergangenheit was identical with the idea of the jungle for us. But the future of this country is the same as with economic and political importance.
These students strive to win, our understanding of a continent, whose drumming call - to leave of an expectant nation to leave our understanding of their homeland.
