c. New Sultan, Borneo
The British protectorate of Brunei in Borneo saw the crowning of a new monarch with all oriental splendour. The young Sultan Omar Ali Sikrodin is the 28th ruler of this exotic land. His crown is heavy with jewels. Highlight of the ceremony was the big coronation procession through the streets of the capital. At the top of the procession the royal spear wearers: flashes from fairy-land.

03. Berlin Festival Opened

a. Schiller Theater, Ballet, Concert
The "Berlin Festival" has begun and the town which saw so much sorrow now sees festive and important cultural events. For guests from all over the world, remarkable performances are to be seen. Federal President Heuss opened the festival and presented the rebuilt Schiller Theater to the population of Berlin. The theater was opened with "William Tell" by Schiller. Every new day brought a new event. The State Opera House showed "Callot Phantasy" by Malipiero with the ballet "Carnival In Rome" as its highlight. At the Grunewald Jagdschloss, Mozarts' "Little Night Music" was played under the baton of Leo Blech.

b. Unveiling Of The Friedrich Ebert Bust
In front of the Schöneberg Town Hall, Federal President Heuss unveiled a bust of Friedrich Ebert, first German President of the Reich. His widow and his son, the deputy to the diet of Wurttemberg-Baden, attended the ceremony. Professor Heuss called Ebert a symbol of that German unity which is founded on freedom. In 12 halls, seven nations show their newest car models. 626 cars and motorcycles are on show. This is the new Mercedes 300.

a. Grenzlandring Race
The car-racing season comes to an end. The last race was on the Grenzlandring, Germany' fastest track. Favorite of the race for No. II cars was Hans Stuck in an AFM. But international champions raced against him. Paul Greifzu, BMW, was his most dangerous rival. 200.000 spectators saw interesting duels. Hans Stuck drove the 12 rounds in his old way, and won the race with an average speed of 206,3 KPH.

b. Training Robinson and Turpin
Sugar Ray Robinson prepares for his return bout against Randolph Turpin for the middle weight world champion title. Robinson trains hard and in earnest to re-conquer the title which he lost in July to Turpin in London. But World Champion Turpin also prepares for his great fight. The meeting of these two masters of boxing in New York will be the sensation of the international boxing world.

c. Dancing Tournament
At Baden-Baden Kurhaus a dancing tournament for the "Grand Prize of Europe" took place. The eleven best couples from Europe and overseas participated.
