Curfew. Nobody was to leave the house at night. But with daylight life came back to the villages and cities and everybody waited, waited - for something new to happen. Soldiers and officials of Military Government gave instruction and advice.
A new profession was created from the common misery of the year 1945: the black market. Prohibition, penalties and raids could only cut it down but were not able to stop it. The first prisoners of war were released from allied camps: they were to help in the harvest on their farms. Happy faces after a long time. Those men were to return to their families, to liberty and peaceful work.
