a. Opening of the Watersport Season
The watersport season 1950 has begun. All boatshouses from the Elbe down to the Isar have been opened. New boats are named - with a glass of cognac. The crews are getting prepared. b. Inauguration of a New Class-Room
A Problem in the cities: there are still schools which had been ruined by bombs. Here are class-rooms of which - unfortunately - many exist all over Germany. An unfortunate fact. But this can be helped in spite of lack of money from the authorities. A Munich newspaper has set up an emergency program and donated this pleasant, light and clean classroom. And here you see a cheerful new school: the Werdenfels School in Munich, which has been finished this year. It has 23 class-rooms for more than 1.200 students. "Give our children better schools."

c. Goetz von Berlichingen
A little quarrel between the authorities and a boy in Wurttemberg. The boy was driving his bicycle on the pavement and a policeman stops him: "What is your name?" "Götz von Berlichingen!" But Sultan fortunately is not keen on a rabbit steak and only wants to play with the little rabbits. Finally a nice, touching family atmosphere.

04. Football School
The Bavarian Football Association gives lessons for youth in this sport. Here we see the well known footballer Jakob Streitle. He shows his pupils how a ball is stopped. Now the head trick. This is how Streitle does it - and this how the boy manages it. But don't be worried - he will go on trying athome, as long as his head will stand it! And now the end of the training - a real game.

05. The 1st of May in Western Germany ... and in Berlin
The 1st of May was celebrated in the whole Bundesrepublic with huge mass meetings. Millions of working people of all professions demonstrated - as here in Munich - for freedom, peace and understanding between all nations. Foreign union-representatives from the Western hemisphere presented the greetings from their countries' working people. The miners and workers of the Ruhr district met in their cities.
Tens-and hundreds of thousands of working people met also in Mannheim and Frankfurt to celebrate their day. Western Berlin had a huge demonstration. Crowds of people flooded in from all parts of the city to the Brandenburg Arc, the point of intersection of Partitioned Berlin. More than 700.000 Western Berliners gathered on Republic Square to demonstrate their attachment to Western Germany as well as to the whole free world. Communist unions marched up on the other side of the Brandenburg Arc. But tens of thousands came from the East Zone through the close rows of the Volks-Police to the Western Sectors to participate in the May meetings of free Berlin. The flags of the Eastern zone were flown among the flags of Germany's Western lands. Irving Brown, delegate of the International Free Unions, presented greetings from more than 400 millions of free Europeans and Americans. Cheered by hundreds of thousands, Oberburgomaster Reuter then spoke to the people:
