Minister President Arnold, who is also Traffic Minister for North-Rhine-Westphalia said:

Hamburg's Police arranged a traffic education week. Hamburg's accidents have increased during the last few years by 150 percent! Caution! Too late! Atoms Under the Microscope
For the first time atoms can be observed under a microscope at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute, Berlin. This microscope has been known for the past 15 years and was used for making enlargements up to 60.000 times. This was of great importance for biological and medical research. This electronic microscope is the first one built since the end of the war and is now used in Berlin at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute. Here are photographs of pictures as they are now produced by this microscope. Besides this Dr. Erwin Müller constructed a new and very simple looking instrument. A so called field-electronic microscope, with which one can watch the physical motions on the surface of metal crystals, enlarged up to 1 million times. One single atom can not yet be observed because about one hundred million atoms come on the level of one square-millimeter. These pictures show the structure of a metal piece. Thus the motion of the atoms are for the first time demonstrated in pictures.

03. All Kinds of Fashions:

Dresses, Hats, and Hair-do's
Gathering crowds in Berlin. A political meeting? No! But the new way of window advertising in a Tempelhof shop. Instead of stiff dummies two charming girls show all kinds of dresses. Fashion show behind glass, free of charge for everybody. A Munich modiste shows the latest of the newest fashions. Each for a different purpose. This is a tailored costume made of whole wool with a black fur collar. Then: a simple black coat, practical and attractive and for visits and invitation a striking black tea gown with a tobacco-coloured jacket. This model is called "City". 04. United Nations:

Jugoslavia Elected To the Security Council and Vishinsky protests
In New York Jugoslavia was elected by the United Nations to the Security Council. President Romulo had to warn Soviet Foreign Minister Vishinsky shortly before the voting, because he tried to make the delegates vote for Soviet Czechoslovakia. President Romulo declared, that the remarks of Vishinsky are entirely out of order.

By the election Jugoslavia, the only communist state which does not stand for control by the Kremlin, has received an important voice in the work of the United Nations.

05. Oberammergau Elects its Passion Play Actors

Oberammergau prepares for the passion play of 1950
The world famous village in Upper Bavaria expects, for the first time after a 16-years intermission, visitors from all over the world. The huge hall with its 5.000 seats is also being restored. According to an old tradition 102 actors attend a service before the elections. Youngsters and grown-ups already have the look of their future part in the Passion Play. The elections. This play was performed 300 years ago for the first time as a votive offering to keep the pestilence away from their village. The results of the elections: An Oberammergau inn keeper was elected Jesus - his cook will be Caiaphas - a 70-year old smith will be Petrus - Judas is a wood darver - Johannes, a young farmer.
