02. Newsflashes from Germany

a. Rissbach Project
The Rissbach project - the biggest post-war program for better use of water power, is completed. This new water power station, which was built in two years, was opened with ceremony. The spillway is shut down on the border. The old river bed runs out and the Rissbach, coming from Austria, flows into its new bed, two 7 kilometer long tunnels underneath the Isar, into the Walchensee.
160 tons of dynamite were used for this underground job. The first water from the Rissbach comes out of the Walchensee. The current capacity of the Walchensee Works is increased by 50 percent, that means yearly 80 millions kilowatt hours by this new project. The completion, whose plans date from 1913, took more than one million work hours.

b. Sol Bath

04. Wilton Park - A Political High School
A special conference was held at the political high school at Wilton Park near London, where 30 Germans attended, besides several representatives from other countries. Members of all kinds of professions, such as politicians, academicians, journalists, union members etc. discussed the subject "The Basis of British Politics." The German participators were able to learn thoroughly the system and the principles of this modern political high school. The famous conductor Leo Blech returned after a 15-year absence from Berlin. He is now 78 years old, and had to emigrate at the begin of the Nazi regime, and performed mainly in Stockholm.
