04. Ship at Fire

The Tragedy at Toronto Harbour
The "Noronic," which sailed between USA and Canada was destroyed by fire in Toronto harbour. The fire started early in the morning and spread with enormous speed. A panic broke out among the 500 passengers, everybody fought for a way through the fire. At dawn 120 persons were still caught inside the burning "Noronic." It was hours later before one was able to search for their bodies. Hospitals and first aid to search were crowded with injured passengers. It is not yet clear what caused the fire. About 200 persons died in this terrible accident. This was one of the greatest catastrophes in the history of modern navigation.
