Athletes from all four zones competed for the German Forest Race at Kappelberg near Stuttgart. They had to cover the 1,9 kilometer round [...]ck four times. The leading field is composed of: Otto Eitel, Esslingen - Ludwig Warnemünde, Hamburg, and Hermann Eberlein, Munich. One third of the competitors gave up during the race. Warnemünde scored the victory, second was Eitel 10 meters behind him. Warnemünde ran the 7,5 kilometers in 24 min., 2 sec.

c. Motor boat race
America's first outboard race of this season brings some lively scenes on and around the waterway. One can risk nearly everything - as long as one does'nt try for a short cut.

Unveiling the Roosevelt-Monument
On occasion of the 3rd anniversary of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's death America and the whole world remembered the late president of the USA. Highlight of the official ceremonies was the inanguration of a monument in London. Present were Winston Churchill and Prime Minister Attlee together with the members of the British Cabinet and the representatives of the Diplomatic Corps. King George of England and the Royal Family attended the ceremony with Mrs. Roosevelt. In a memorial speech King George commemorated the great friend of peace and world citizen. Here are some of the last pictures of President Roosevelt. At his desk at the White House, Washington. In spite of already being very ill Roosevelt participated in the Jalta Conference. At the side of the King Mrs. Roosevelt unveiled the bronce statue of her husband. Flanked by U.S. and British marines wreaths were placed on the monument. King George's wreath was declieated to the man who gained a special place of honour in the heart of England. President Truman, too, sent a wreath. The monument was erected with the aid of voluntary [...] contributions by the population of England.

a. Judge Attestation
In Frankfurt o/Main Dr. Herbert Ruscheweyh was sworn in as first president of the German High Court of Justice in the Bi-Zone. The German Court will be responsible for the equal administration of all laws made by the Economic Board for the British and U.S. Zone.

b. Bogota
Bogota, capital of the South American Republic of Columbia, was the scene of the 9th Panamerican Conference. Together with 1.000 delegates of 21 States from North- and South-America U.S. Foreign Minister Marshall participated. On account of a revolution against the Columbian government the conference was interupted for 5 days. Questions of inter-American cooperation were discussed.

c. Paul G. Hoffmann
News of the Marshall Plan. In Washington the well known U.S. economic expert Paul G. Hoffmann was appointed administrator for the European Recovery program. On his first press conference he declared that European production could increase by a third of it's present total during the 4-years-term of the Marshall Plan.

d. Italian Elections
The Italian elections, eagerly expected and followed by the whole world. ended with a convincing victory of the anti-communist parties. In Bolzona and South Tyrol, too, the rival parties held a lively campain. The elections were conducted in orderly fashion with a participation of 90% of the population. The victory of the Gasperis government and the Italian coalition parties was a clear decision for democracy and parlamentarism.

a. 01. One room-Theatre
In Hamburg the smallest theatre of the world was established, another mark of our present time of compromises and make-shifts.The actor Helmut Gmelin calls his establishment "One room theatre" which is housed in his flat. Every night 50 visitors climb four floors to attend the performance for more people cannot be seated. Since the premiere of Hebbel's "Maria Magdalena" the "house" is always sold out. This is the returning POW Johann Dax. His road back is typical for millions of others. He is born in the Sudetenland and los all relatives in the war. By a POW sponsorship action he found employment with a Munich building-establishment. His return to civilian life first takes him to the food ticket office. He gets coupons for one week. Then he has to go to police headquarters. Altogether it takes him 4 weeks to get all papers, stamps and documents. Here we only show the main landmarks of his long pilgrimage. Johann Dax has now the final POW discharge papers. Then he goes to the housing office. As he is a homecomer and refugee, and works as a builder in Munich he gets permission to live here. In the labour office he has to be registered, then receives a certificate for this registration. At the police-office he receives his identification card. The homecomer Johann Dax now goes home. He lives provisionally in a barrack erected by the building firm [...]
