How does the student live today? Damaged universities, shortage of books and educational material, and lack of food and lodging plan a big part in the present-day student's life. The multitude of people who want to study forces limitations in the study-courses. After admission the students first help in reconstructing their university. This work lasts about a quarter to half a year. The girl students, too, perform practical work. Now the modern student's life begins. Housing questions, of course, are of top importance.
Lucky ones get a room through the Student Housing Office. Going to their new homes the old philosophic word can be said: omnia mea mecum porto. And this is the romance of student's life: they live singly, double or three together in a room. They help themselves as well as they can. Some students already have families and they have a harder time studying.
A former air-raid shelter in Bonn was turned into a boarding house for students.
They have decorated the bare walls of their rooms with scientific designs and data. Here they live and learn.
Books are the back-bone of the knowledge. Many universities have lost their libraries. Here, some rescued stocks are put in order again. And here we show a day at University. The lecture rooms are overcrowded. Many students have to study fast to make up for lost years. Last summer 73.000 students attended 22 German high schools. The student life of today serves the gentle purpose of all science: research and keeping alive immortal knowledge.

04. Olympic Training on the Zugspitze
"Zugspitze," 2.600 meters high has always been a favourite training place of skiers. At present several Olympic teams are stationed here.
