An impressive ceremony is held in his honour at Christ's Church in Heidelberg.
The General's body is buried at the U. S. Army cemetery in Hamm, Luxembourg. In the small country of Luxembourg are the graves of 30 000 American soldiers.
High ranking U. S. Officers and the representatives of 9 nations follow the coffin.
The General's body finds his last resting place beside the grave of an American soldier who was killed in the battle of the Ardennes last winter.

The Fishermen's Festival
The Japanese fishermen have the old custom of a merry celebration with music and dancing each time they succeed in getting a rich haul.
For the youngsters the American soldiers are the centre of interest, of course.
Geishas perform their traditional dances.
The young generation already seems to be on good terms with the soldiers of the Occupation Army.

09. Hamburg:

Trotting Race
To win the Great New-Year-Prize of 20 000 Marks eleven horses start on the trotting race track at Hamburg-Farmsen.
On the first lap the field is still close together. 10 000 spectators witness the thrilling race. One of the drivers gets disqualified for allowing his horse to gallop.
"Holstenmädel No. 1" is leading, ahead of Carl Signal - the rest drops far behind. Holstenmädel is now leading with several lengths.
No. 12 gains and joins the leading teams ... Carl Signal drops back to third place.
Other drivers begin to force the pace and the field is drawn closer together.
The struggle for the finish.
Holstenmädel drops back and No. 14 takes the lead - when suddenly No. 13, Peter Pia, comes up and draws level with with No. 14. Neck to neck the two are leading - and only the last few yards bring the decision. Peter Pia wins.
No. 13 one again has proved itself the "Lucky Number".
